calendar_month
December, 2018

Our voluntary organization was officially launched on 22.06.2018. At the very first meeting, it has been suggested that at the end of the year, we should line up for some sort of social activity during the Christmas festival season. Accordingly, we all decided to distribute a bag of dry rations worth Rs.1,000/- to at least 100 low-income families in Moratuwa area.

In Christmas season people lavishly spend a lot to celebrate the festival and as such we appealed to them to contribute something to the dry rations project to achieve our target. Many people generously supported to us to make this event a success.
Suitable families were selected by the Chief incumbent Thero of Moratuwa Buddhist Center Vihara, Rev.Father of St. Sebastian's Church, Rev.Father of Methodist Church, Rawatawatta and the Grama Niladhari of Idama 552.

108 bags containing rice, potatoes, dhal, B onions, sugar, tea and salmon, worth Rs.1,000/- were prepared from the collection and distributed among the selected families on 20th December 2018.

The distribution was held at the Moratuwa Police Station premises. Among those who attended the event were Assistant Superintendent of Police, Moratuwa, Headquarter Inspector of Moratuwa Police Station, the above-mentioned clergy, Administrative Grama Niladhari of Divisional Secretariat Moratuwa and Grama Niladhari of Idama 552. A carol service was also performed at the end of the ceremony. The total value of the project is Rs.125,358/-.
